Mead and tortillas!

Well, the bhut jolokia is dead. Turns out, you can over-fertilize a plant. I drank the pear mead, it was fairly smooth, no over-bearing pear taste to it. The raspberry mead was good as well, a bit rougher but still strong. I made some tortillas tonight with what i had for kitchen utensils, I will need to get a tortilla plate so I can cook them properly.

Today I switched the mead out into a new jug since the spacing between the bubbles is a little more than a minute apart. I tasted a small bit of it and it is turning out to be pretty good. It has a very nice peach flavor and there is a good percentage of alcohol in it, so it tastes very nice.

One week in for the Bhut Jolokia and it is still going strong. It is 4.25" tall now and I have been putting it outside on the nice warm days.

I bought a Bhut Jolokia, aka Ghost Chili, plant from the local garden center. It is a very difficult plant to grow but I am willing to put in the time necessary to learn how to let it grow. Either way, this will be a fun project.

Today I transferred the mead to a new bottle. I only did it today since tomorrow is Mother's Day, and I am told I will be busy all day. I cubed 2 new pears and added them into the mix throwing away the old ones. I set a small bit aside while I was transferring to taste it. It was nice, it had a little bit of honey and pear mixed quite nicely together with a real nice after taste to it. From here, the long wait begins.

Here is a link to the local store where I get all my supplies. These guys are great, and very knowledgeable.
